LA Gardens

flower shop

A flower and pre-roll shop built as a vending machine at a ballpark.

In preview. Ordering is not switched on yet.

Fourteen seconds, no sound.

The headache

A product grid looks like every other shop. This one couldn't take orders yet, and its menu was still changing.

  • In the way: A product grid is forgettable.

The fix: The shop is a vending machine. Picking a slot is the browsing.

  • In the way: Ordering can't be switched on yet.

The fix: The full vend runs, and the pay key says it's a preview and nothing is charged.

  • In the way: The menu isn't final.

The fix: Names and prices are live text, so menu changes need no redraw.

  • In the way: 3D doesn't run on every phone.

The fix: Every screen gets the same photographed cabinet. Nothing depends on 3D.

The store is one object: a vending machine at a ballpark. Tap it and the machine is the menu: slots, a price rail, a card per pack, sold-out and next-drop slots. The ballpark has a day and a night version, set by the visitor's clock.

Up close

The ballparkA night ballpark, the machine lit on the concourse, one instruction: tap the machine.
The scoreboardThe logo is on the ballpark scoreboard: part of the place, not stuck on top.

The look, and why

A night ground, #070418, with cream, #F3EAD3, neon pink, #FF2D95, and cyan, #7FE9FF, for the machine's lights. Archivo Narrow headings, Work Sans body, and readouts in Doto, a dot-matrix face. Names and prices are live text over the machine, so the menu changes without a redraw.
